"Beppe Cantarelli's Mini Tour in Piacenza County"

"Finally, what I am doing, is getting closer to what I really would like to do" that's what told me Beppe Cantarelli while discussing his "new" music. After many years of intense work and experiences within the so-called "pop music", Cantarelli is now putting all his efforts and energies in a completely new genre that implements all his musical background. A music that is "contaminated" by classical as well as popular harmonies, and that ultimately becomes "new." The main theme is the "faith," not only the religious one, but also and especially the faith in the man, in his way of feeling things, in his relationship with the world & all the things in the world, the humanity, and the Absolute. That's how were born his recitals for only voice and acoustic guitar: a man alone with his soul that manifests himself taking the form of "sound." Arrangements of selections originally composed for the "Millennium Choir" plus several unpublished compositions, will be part of the programs for the concerts that he will perform in Piacenza County. Saturday December 13, at 9pm, he will be at the XIth Century Cistercian Abbey of "Chiaravalle della Colomba" with several unpublished compositions that have not been recorded on CD yet. Sunday December 14 he will participate singing at the 10:30am Mass at the Church of Carmiano of Vigolzone. Friday December 18, at 9pm, he will performed in our beloved church in Pontedellolio. Cantarelli returns to the "San Giacomo" Church in Pontedellolio after the warm reception he had for his "Magnificat Recital" last October. The choir of the "San Giacomo" Church just recently joined the Millennium Choir (www.millenniumchoir.com ), the multi-ethnic and multi-religious choir that Cantarelli founded in 1998 and that featuresthousands of members all over the world. "I would like to convey my Christmas wishes to all the friends in Pontedellolio the best way I know - says Cantarelli - with my music." For this "special" occasion he will perform a new unpublished song called "Even God Will Cry" that is also the title to this evening's recital. Inspired by a David Maria Turoldo's poetry called "God Will Be Sad," Cantarelli's lyrics seem like an hymn to the immensity of existence: love, silence, freedom, eternity,...immensity that can give you shudders...immensity in which it is possible to get lost. "But If I Lose Myself...EVEN GOD WILL CRY" says the chorus, and God's crying is the participation of the Absolute to our fears. It comes to pass a communion between the man hungry of knowledge and the Verb and the Truth that reveal themselves. Poetry and music that justify each other, born to really be one whole thing,...and it is not a coincidence that Cantarelli wrote both music & lyrics.
