" 'Even God Will Cry' Beppe Cantarelli Presents His Latest Composition"

THE ORIGINAL VERSION

Thursday December 18, 2003 at 9pm, at the Saint Giacomo Church in Pontedellolio, Beppe Cantarelli will perform his recital "Even God Will Cry." A native of Busseto but resident in Los Angeles, California for the last 20 years, this Artist returns for the third time in Pontedellolio where, during the month of October 2003, he has participated with the choir of that parish to the Sunday mass, and where he also performed, a few days later his "Magnificat Recital." Mr. Cantarelli's work deserves special attention. The religious language is always used in a proper manner, as it is always supported by a music composition that does not utilize short cuts typical of a more commercial and strictly consumer-oriented-music, but that is rather oriented toward the depth of the sacre mysteries. There is always a respectful caution in order not to trivialize what is larger than our hearts and our minds. This way there is always a discretion that gleams through the composition as well as the singing performance, like walking on tiptoe within the mystery's territory, the very same place where the blackberry bush was burning and Moses had to take off his sandals. Beppe Cantarelli comes from a long artistic career that has evidently formed him and refined him as an Artist. In the 70s, 80s and 90s he has worked with such Artists as Mina, Amii Stewart, Anna Oxa, Fiorella Mannoia, Loredana Bertè, Ornella Vanoni, Marcella, Renato Zero, Mario Lavezzi, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso. In the States he has worked with such Artists as Quincy Jones, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Bonnie Tyler, Joe Cocker, just to name a few. On Christmas Day 1999, during the opening of the Holy Doors in The Vatican, the Millennium Choir, that he founded & conducted, performed his "Magnificat," composed for the opening of the new Sanctuary of "Il Divino Amore" in Rome. His song "We'll Always Be Free," with a contagious & addictive rhythm, sang by thousands & thousands of young people during the World Youth Day in Toronto, Canada, in July 2002, develops the freedom's theme: "Freedom is what we are, and if it's human to fall, love will conquer us all." Just a few days ago he performed a very successful recital in Busseto, a "Magnificat Recital" inspired by the beautiful & famous lyrics by the Saint Luke's Gospel with the same title. His next recital will be in Pontedellolio next Thursday December 18, 2003. It will be a moment of meditation on Christmas and the mystery of the Nativity especially on the song, title of this recital, "Even God Will Cry," a song inspired by a poetry of Father David Maria Turoldo "God Will Be Sad." About Christmas & the mystery of the Natività we read: "Holy is the canto, words & music, echo od weeping, Verb that will come / Immense is the moment that discovers heaven, Holy is the warm chill of truth." The evening at Pontedollio, a few days before Christmas, wants to be an invitation to enter the mystery of God that continues to amaze the heart of him who wants to listen to his or her own soul, as it says one of the most beautiful songs of Cantarelli: "Listen To Your Soul, it speaks to you with silence...Listen To Your Soul, show me the eternity, even for one day."
