The music of this song was written by Beppe in the summer of 1984 when he was writing & producing some new material for Warner Brothers' artist singer/actress Patty Weaver (also known as Gina Romolotti in the popular soap opera The Young & The Restless). That summer Patty recorded several songs written by Beppe including "Before This Night Is Through", a pop-rock tune that later that year was also recorded by CBS artist Bonnie Tyler. Patty though, never got to record "Another Night" due to the fact that there wasn't yet a set of lyrics that pleased Beppe. A few months later, when his publisher at EMI Mr. Tom Sturges heard a rough demo of the song with Beppe mumbling some lyrics in English-made-in-Taiwan, asked lyricist Roy Freeland to try to write some words. After several attempts and different lyric sets written by Roy who just moved to Malibu, one hour and a half driving from EMI's offices in Hollywood, Tom and Beppe suggested Roy, on a conference call from Tom's office, to keep the same title & the same "hook" that Beppe had been mumbling for months while he was playing the song with his guitar: "Another Night without you." Roy got back to them within the hour with the final lyrics that a few months later Aretha Franklin recorded on her smashing come-back
album "Who's Zooming Who".

In a few days Beppe recorded a rough demo of the song with vocalist Joe Turano, who has a rockish voice similar to Rod Stewart. He rushed & delivered the demo tape to his publisher on a Wednesday afternoon because that night he was having a meeting with Clive Davis, the legendary producer & then president of Arista Records, the label that just launched Whitney Houston and that was preparing a major come-back album for queen of soul Aretha Franklin. The morning after, on a splendid Thursday morning, Beppe received the most exciting phone call of his career from an even more excited Tom Sturges who was announcing him that he had a cut with Aretha.

"Another Night" was one of the selections of a multi platinum selling album in 1985 and in January 1986 was also released as a single, the forth from the same album, and managed to reach the number one spot on the charts in the U.S. and top 10 all over the world. The single "Another Night" was performed for the first time, live & via satellite from Detroit (hometown of Aretha who's scared to fly!!!), during the 1986 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles (see the video) The video was also the first song performed by an African-American artist to reach the number one position on MTV top 20 count down. The same song was also included in the only Greatest Hits album by the Queen of Soul that was released by Arista Records in 1988 when Aretha Franklin was induced in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In all its releases & versions (pop, remix & dance, single & album, 12 inch single, etc.) "Another Night" sold worldwide over 10 million copies and was also performed & recorded in a very dance-oriented re-mix by singer/actress Nia Peeples in the popular TV series "Fame" (see the video).
